Lily Lily! Shop on NBC’s The TODAY Show! October 23 @ 10:30AM

October 21st, 2008

Exciting news!! I found out last week that the Editor-At-Large of Daily Candy, based in New York, selected my boutique for her appearance on the Today Show to discuss “affordable but cute lines that women may not necessarily know about, but are her favorites.” I’ve been pinching myself since last week at the news… I’m so grateful and excited, I can barely stand it. Two of my wool coats by Tulle will be shown live on the Fourth Hour of the Today Show, as examples, and cited as available at Lily Lily! Shop Online. The coats will be available for purchase on this site starting Thursday morning, to coincide with the show.  To receive the press release on this, subscribe to my mailing list.   And set your DVRs for 10:30AM on Thursday 23rd!

Lastly, my message to everyone is - follow your dreams, and have faith in them and in yourself. And dream big. Very big.

Going The Extra Mile: An Article on Success, by Author and Coach Jack Canfield

I read this article the other day and thought it was too excellent not to share. I highly recommend subscribing to Jack Canfield’s newsletters.  You always learn something positive and new.  Enjoy!

Going the Extra Mile will Get You Even Farther

by Jack Canfield

Successful people go the extra mile. Plain and simple.

They do it because it says multitudes about their work ethic and character. They stand out from the crowd because of their extra efforts. They are unwilling to give up, even in the face of difficult times.

They get the promotions, they get the loyal customers, they grow their businesses twice as fast, they get financial rewards, job security, and they go home feeling satisfied.

Do you exceed expectations? Do you surprise people with more than they were expecting from you? Do you look for ways that you could be of more service, or for projects that you could help out on?

People notice hard workers. They notice special services and all the small touches that make dealing with you so pleasurable. And when they are talking to their friends they will mention you and recommend you because you are the one who stands out.

Do you wonder what’s in it for you? Do you think it’s unfair to give more when you’re not being compensated for it or recognized for it? Do you have the “it’s not my job” mentality?

To be successful you must change your thinking. You can only win by making extra efforts. People who go the extra mile always get payback. You will discover yourself becoming more self-confident, more self-reliant and more influential with those around you.

You will get noticed! People will see that you pay attention to detail, that you consider all the small things that really make a business successful, that you care about your image, and that you belong with all the other people who work hard to achieve. You will attract new business and new opportunities.

Listen to any success story and you will hear of someone who worked exceptionally hard to get what they wanted.

You’ll hear how they put in the extra time, did what wasn’t part of their job description, and over-delivered on what was asked of them. You’ll hear how they stuck at it until they broke through, and usually you’ll hear how it only took them a couple of years to do it.

What have you been doing for the past couple of years? The same thing? How quickly have you advanced? How quickly has time gone by? Think of what you could accomplish if you made it a habit to exceed everyone’s expectations. Image what doors could be open to you if you decided to be of better service and value.

How are you willing to go the extra mile? What kind of extra service are you willing to provide in order to stand out from the rest? What areas of your life could you be giving more of your effort and time, becoming more valuable, and improving your reputation?

Be willing to treat everyone like you’d treat your dearest friend. Don’t skimp on service. Don’t be mediocre or run of the mill. Show people what you are capable of. Show them that you care about your image and reputation. When it comes to success, the people who are willing to go the extra mile get there that much faster!

Today’s Candy is…LilyLilyShop.com!

October 7th, 2008

For the third time this year (within 7 months actually ;-) ), Daily Candy picked items from my boutique… and I’m ecstatic! No, I’m beyond ecstatic. That’s because this time, Daily Candy chose to feature my Tanzanian bags.

I believed in these products 100% from the very first day I found and ordered them for my store! Not only are they made in Tanzania but the workmanship is amazing, the money goes to support a great cause and my Amias Project contacts have been a pleasure to work with, as well as avid supporters of my shop! They truly inspire me and now we’re both happy campers.

Whether or not these bags sell out, the point is that over 2 million people today learned about them and about the project. You really can’t beat that, and that was my goal when I first bought them - to spread the word. To show that yes, beautifully and professionally crafted items can come from Africa. So it’s a dream come true.  Daily Candy - I love you and Amias says thank you!

You can enjoy the piece here or click on the image below. And of course, you can get more history and buy the bags here.

Are you prepared for the chill?

I’m talking about the weather, not the economy! :-)

This is a happy blog and I like to stay positive and block out the crazy media overdose, so no talk of all that here! No, what I’m dealing with now is that period of time every year from the beginning of September to those first chilly days of October when I wake in the morning and face the same dilemma: what to wear?! (and that’s usually after I curse and complain about how cold it is and how I wish I could stay in bed!)

Somehow it all happens very quickly… winter. The mornings get cool and we’re instantly reminded of jackets, pants and anything that can cover us up temporarily during those first chilly hours in the morning and later at night.

What I seem to do is start pulling my Fall pieces from storage one by one, every day. I never anticipate cold weather (since I hate it so much) so I’m never really ready closet-wise. And so I start pulling stuff out - a sweater here, a jacket there - until the day that I actually have time to sit and switch out my entire closet to make it more “winter-friendly.”

What pieces do I love the most for winter? Okay, first I’d be lying if I said my tastes never vary or that I don’t Read the rest of this entry »

Ok folks - I’ve finally uploaded most of the new FALL and WINTER items onto the site! Jackets/Coats, skirts, tops and dresses! As items roll in I will be adding them to the site - just note the “NEW!” designation to see what’s come in. Lots of cute and practical coats from Tulle (as always), as well as unique edgy shapes from BNX. Happy browsing!

Introducing ROJAS | Hot, sexy urban line arrives at Lily Lily!

September 11th, 2008

There’s a fine line between sexy and over-the-top. With ROJAS, you can’t possibly be mistaken for anything - except classy, sensual and feminine. Well, HOT, in one word! I’m super excited to carry the ROJAS line at Lily Lily! as part of our 2008 Fall collection. It adds edge and sizzle to my other winter looks, and you can wear the pieces solo in the Fall, or layer them for winter. ROJAS pieces go a looong way! In real estate it’s about location location location, right? In every-day-fashion for gals like us, it’s mileage mileage mileage.

The designer, Freddie Rojas, is based in LA but is actually Spanish, Ecuadorian and Peruvian. You can read more about him in this NY Post article

A couple of Rojas pieces will start arriving on my rack at DEKKA this Saturday! And the rest will be online by Monday. So hurry - limited quantities and sizes. Sexy outfits wait on no woman!
